Force 4 Tactical Program - 2006 Edition

OVERVIEW: Force 4 is designed for the competitive racer, with tactical functions and displays available in no other program. Force 4 is not designed to reproduce the functions of a primary navigation program. Force 4 comes complete with a set of charts suitable for racing and weather routing. The Chartmaker utility allows you to create whatever other charts are desired from any screen or web image, including satellite shots and weather forecast graphics. For the purposes for which Force 4 is designed, there is no need to purchase commercial charts. On the other hand, Force 4 does not read commercial charts, and so should not be used for primary navigation, particularly in shallow water where there may be rocks and other obstacles.

Unlike some tactical software, Force 4 does not attempt to adjust or edit the instrument system data. This is left to the software provided by the instrument manufacturer, such as Ockam or B&G. Force 4 concentrates instead on tactical functions in order to help you win races, with unique functions and painstaking, precise computations. Force 4 does not employ the hidden simplifications and approximations used by its competitors.

EASE OF USE: Force 4 puts emphasis on a clear, bold display, that is easy to understand at a glance. The display maximizes your view of the chart, and avoids icon (symbol) control buttons whose function is not obvious. Instead, Force 4 relies on a transparent, topical menu, and a minimum of controls with self-evident labels that are easy to remember and identify. Force 4 is also exceptional in the amount of help, descriptive text and examples built into the program. New for 2006 is an extremely detailed web-browser (html) format "Tutorial," which explains and illustrates all functions, menu options and controls. A new small-scale (PDA) version is also available to operate from the cockpit.
ACCURATE POINT-TO-POINT CURRENTS: During the past 10 years we have combined currrent measurements and an array of public and private data to create hydrodynamically sound current-prediction models for most U.S. sailing venues, and many venues abroad. "LK" is the ONLY source of tidal-current data suitable for use with tactical software. LK currents may be used by some 3rd-party programs, but only LK does accurate current-dependent computations.
Digital or vector display; add points anywhere for detail. Dynamic, animated display to study current patterns.
