Force 4 ChartMaker Converts Satellite & Flat Images To Electronic Charts

Several years ago, we introduced an option to convert any image on a PC screen to an electronic "chart" that could be used with our software. This feature has since been copied, IN PART, by some of our competitors. It is easy to work out the method to convert a "flat" image to a chart, since it is just a matter of figuring out the scale, "georeferencing" position on the image to a lat-lon coordinate. It is much more difficult when the image is not flat, but a section of a spherical image produced by a weather satellite. There are many satellite images that can provide an informative backdrop to routing and navigation, particularly in an ocean crossing, where you are otherwise looking at a blank chart. To date, Force 4 is the ONLY tactical software that can convert satellite weather and other images into useful electronic charts.
