Local Knowledge enables you to compute and display current
predictions instantly, for any time of day and day of the year, overlaying a realistic
electronic chart of the Bay (5 different display regions, plus San Pablo Bay and
"zoom-in" for closeup view). Unlike other "tide and current" programs,
Local Knowledge includes rotary
currents and local datapoints, and builds a mathematical model of the area which enables
you to add as many current vectors as you like, ANYWHERE YOU LIKE, and to correct this
model for seasonal variations with data from NOAA's real-time sensors.
Our programs go beyond display and integrate the current model into a broad range of

DON'T BE FOOLED !! Other tactical software, at any price, is useless in San Francisco Bay !! Due to the strong tidal currents there are very definitely "optimal routes" in any leg of a course, but routing software cannot compute them without a source of continuous, point by point current data. And the 'what-if" function (the only other tactical function provided by our competitors) does not take differential currents into account, and could not even if the program did have current data (to see why, CLICK HERE).
